The Third Language

On the occasion of World Poetry Day and to celebrate 50 years of the Treaty of Rome, the Romanian Cultural Institute in London will host an evening of readings organized by the European Commission & the European Parliament. Romanian violonist Tudor Andrei, who's currently artist-in-residence at the Romanian Cultural Institute in London, will play The Poem, by Ernest Chausson, accompanied at piano by Tabitha May Kelly.

Presented by NewStages and Poem for Today with the voices of Louise Jameson, Gordon McDougall & Richard Durden, the event will feature poetry of the past 50 years from 35 nations, including all 27 countries of the EU.

Romanian poet Ioana Ieronim will join the event by reading some of her poems. Ioana published ten collections of poetry, including narrative verse: Triumph of the Waterwitch (Bloodaxe, UK), short-listed for the Sir Weidenfeld Prize, Oxford and presented under British Foreign Office program on extension Europe (Cambridge, 2004).

Ioana Ieronim's participation is supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute in London.
