Trigon @ Pulse Festival14, 15 June 2008
The Romanian Cultural Institute in London supports the concert of the Trigon at Pulse Festival in London and Brighton. Set-up in 1992 in Kishinev, Moldova, Trigon blends Balkan melodies with free cosmopolitan jazz. They were awarded The French Academy Award of Arts "Charles Cros" for their debut album in 1994 - The Moldovan Wedding in Jazz, which brought them international press acclaim. Since then Trigon has performed at many renowned world jazz festivals and their music has been broadcast by major radio stations around the world. Trigon has succeeded in finding the narrow path between folklore and jazz. Every musician is a soloist, playing its own game and music, which is a challenging triumph. The audience, trying to follow the musicians, immediately falls in trance. And for the rest of the concert is lost in day-dreaming. Trigon members are: Anatol Stefanet (viola, vocal), Dorel Burlacu (keyboards, harmonica), Vali Boghean (saxophone, trumpet, flute, kaval, vocal) and Gari Tverdohleb (drums, xylophone). The concert is part of the Pulse Festival. Now in its 4th year, the festival celebrates the growing presence and cultural influence of Eastern and Central European communities in the UK and features a wildly eclectic mix of talent from countries such as Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and other countries. When: 14 June, 3.40 pm (London); 15 June, 8.30 pm (Brighton) |
