Imagining Music @ Wigmore HallOpening: Friday 26 March, 6 pm
Can you imagine classical music through black and white photography? Do Brahms, Dvorak or Shostakovich share something with the small Romanian village Cetate on the Danube? These are questions photographer Serban Mestecaneanu answered to during his journey to the village in 2008, alongside Ensemble Raro members and scholars of SoNoRo Interferente educational project, part of the SoNoRo Festival in Bucharest. Serban took photos not only of the music workshops, but also of the local people and the awe-inspiring landscape throughout spring, summer and early autumn. Serban Mestecaneanu is based in Bucharest, Romania. Over the last couple of years, he has focused on working with classical musicians and artists. He has published two B&W albums in 2008: Sonoro - Imagining Music and The Hidden Side of the Opera. Serban is currently working for Esquire and Marie Claire magazines.
The exhibition will continue from 30 March to 9 April at the Romanian Cultural Institute in London. Opening hours Monday - Friday, 10 am - 5 pm. The exhibition is organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute in London. When: 26 March, 6 pm; |
