Romanian artist short-listed for The Sovereign European Art Prize 2006/2007Works by Serban Savu
Romanian artist Serban Savu has been short-listed for The Sovereign European Art Prize 2006/07, following the proposal made in 2006 by the Romanian Cultural Institute in London. Serban Savu (b.1978) studied at the University of Art and Design, Cluj, Romania. He had personal exhibitions at Mie Lefever Gallery (Gent, Belgium), Cube Gallery (Venice, Italy) and H'art Gallery (Bucharest, Romania). His work was recently featured in a group show at Haunch of Venison Gallery (Zurich) and is currently shown at David Nolan Gallery, New York. The Prize exhibition, featuring the work of the 30 short-listed artists, will be held from 28 February to 11 March at Club Row, Rochelle School, Arnold Circus, London E2 7ES. The first prize will be awarded during the exhibition and will be complemented by a special prize voted for solely by the public who may vote directly at the venue or on-line. The Sovereign European Art Prize was launched in April 2005 at London's Hayward Gallery, South Bank Centre. The selection committee is chaired by Sir Peter Blake (UK) and consists of European art experts and professionals.
