Quixote7 Dec (Edinburgh), 12 Dec (Oxford), 14 Dec (London);
Quixote - A feel-good, bitter-sweet concert by Ada Milea on keyboards, electrical guitar and wacky vocals on tour in Edinburgh, Oxford and London. I suppose… it's time to fight… Sancho, we have to fight! Ada Milea's Quixote is a concert version of Cervantes' story of misplaced idealism, which takes you through the windmills, dreams and exuberance of medieval Spain in a contemporary reading. The performance was premiered in 2005 and toured successfully in Romania. Following its success, the show was recorded by A&A Records and a CD was released in 2006. Ada Milea is a radical and visionary artist from Romania, where she has been writing music, releasing original and cutting solo albums and soundtracks for theatre plays. She became interested in experiments that mix music and theatre, initiating projects where actors and musicians are musical characters. Her previous work in the UK includes a concert at the Spitz with Balanescu Quartet and The Island - a performance with Alexander Balanescu, supported by Oxford Contemporary Music, IF Festival, South Hill Park and Romanian Cultural Institute. Bogdan Burlacianu is a member of Fara zahar (Sugar-Free) band and has worked with Ada since 2005 when they started Quixote. 2007 saw them working on a performance of Gogol's The Nose, which became part of the art events staged in the city of Sibiu, the 2007 European Cultural Capital. Bogdan has also composed music for theatre shows such as With a little help from my friends by Maria Manolescu and LaLaLaDoDo by Oana Rusu. Adrian Cristescu is the winner of several prizes in national and international piano contests. His passion is jazz, which he constantly plays on Romanian club stages. He is now studying jazz composition at the Bucharest National University of Music. When & Where:
