Romania 21 & Peca Stefan @ NSDF29 March - 4 April 2007
Romanian playwright Peca Stefan will run a one-week workshop at the National Student Drama Festival in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. The National Student Drama Festival is a week-long celebration of theatre, live-performances discussions and special events, attended by more than 600 students. Peca Stefan will run the workshop on his play Romania 21. He will be accompanied by a group of up to 30 theatre students, who will follow his lecture, take an active part in analyzing and discussion and finally help him set up a rehearsed reading of the play - some of them through acting or directing. Stefan won the dramAcum prize (the Romanian award for best new playwright) in 2002. His education includes New York University and he was one of the Royal Court International Playwriting Residents in 2005. Currently, he has productions of 6 of his plays in Bucharest, Romania: The Sunshine Play, New York [Fuckin' City], Bucharest Calling, I Hate Helen, Station, Coolors. His play Romania 21 is currently in production at the National Theatre in Timisoara.
