Institutul Cultural Roman Londra

ICR london newsletter

We are happy to see that lots of 'things Romanian' happen on the London/UK arts scene. We are alerting you to the ones which are organized by us, ICR - the Romanian Cultural Institute - 'single-handedly' or in partnership. Please continue to tell us what you think at office@icr-london.co.uk.

Today's message:
StarChristmas greetings and wishes for a Happy New Year from us all at the Romanian Cultural Institute!

Our first ‘London season’ leaves us in high-spirits, albeit quite tired: invasions are no easy matter Smiley. The arts & culture one we promised has brought you over 15 events organized or hosted by the Institute in the last 2 months. This has been our deliberate (only occasionally perplexing) experiment with delivering different types & times of 'cultural projects' from Romania. Very little of what we have achieved in this short time would have been possible without your interest in us, advice & friendship! Many thanks to all of you!
What's on:
  • 1 December 2006-31 January 2007: Chronology - the first UK solo exhibition of the internationally-acclaimed Romanian artist Lia Perjovschi. Where: Gallery Yujiro, London. Admission: free.
  • 21 December: Romania in Advent - Handel, Vivaldi, Romanian Traditional Carols. Concert organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute Bucharest. Where: Saint George's Church, Hanover Square, London W1. Admission: £ 14, £ 8 (students and OAPs).
  • 31 December, 10 pm: EU flag - We are happy to host at the Institute the short ceremony organised by the Embassy of Romania in London. Where: 1 Belgrave Square, London.
  • Quiet season:
    a) hols. Not fully-adapted to the prospect of a snow-less Christmas, some of us are going on leave to Romania. We are back in London, complete with EU-membership status Smiley, on 10 January 2007.
    b) work. In January & February 2007 we are taking stock of the rich and eclectic debut of the Institute and plan our agenda for 2007 and beyond. Many thanks for the many project proposals you have sent in. None will go un-answered, many will become real-life arts partnership projects. Watch this space!
