The Romanian Cultural Institute in London supports the concert of the famous Mahala Rai Banda at Eurocultured Festival in Manchester.

Artists from all over Europe are set to descend in Manchester for a free two-day street festival celebrating the diversity of urban European culture. Over two hundred dancers, musicians, live and performance artists will take part in the arts extravaganza over the second May bank holiday.

Shaped in the Gypsy ghettos (Mahala) around Bucharest, Romania, the Mahala Rai Banda (which translates as “The Noble Band from the Ghetto”) displays a surprising array of trends and styles. Furthermore, once you delve down into the history of the place, surprise gives way to fascination as all the pieces fit slowly together.
