Hai la drum back in town

1, 2, 3 December 2007

Following their successful UK tour in April this year, we are happy to support the Hai la drum's concerts in Shaftesbury, Brighton and London.

Romanian violinist Vasile Stanescu leads this multinational group which plays traditional Romanian folk themes mixed with improvisation, in an overall gypsy jazz interpretation. Stanescu is relatively unknown in the UK, but has received remarkable reviews on the British press before, owing to his unique violin style which successfully combines elements of swing and conservatoire technique.

"Plays left-hand pizzicato with a panache I have only ever seen matched by Maxim Wengerov"
London Evening Standard

"Better than Grapelli in places"
Manchester evening News

Vasile Stanescu is joined by Jonny Hepbir (guitar), Pete Watson (accordion) and Dan Sheppard (bass).
