Festival of Art & Music @ ICR London
24 - 26 November 2008;
The Festival of Art & Music is organized by ProPatrimonio and Adept Foundations in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute and includes exhibition of photographs and paintings; carpets from different regions of Romania, illustrated lecture, concert of classical & traditional music and hand-on demonstrations of Romanian craft (we bring a traditional loom all the way from Romania for the purpose!).
The Festival is one of Pro Patrimonio's main fundraising events in the UK, in support of their work to preserve, develop and promote Romania's heritage.
PROGRAMME
Monday 24 November 2008
19.00-22.00 Launch and Private View of the exhibition Heritage in danger showing different building types under threat. It includes a section on the village, with special emphasis on carpets and weaving, illustrated with Romanian carpets by Victoria Berbecaru, Maria Nistor, Iulian and Maria Mihalachi and paintings by Celia Ward. The exhibition also features two documentaries of Romanian village life: I don't miss anyone & Here you can live - you can keep cows, pigs, horses and have land directed by German anthropologist Klaus Luckert.

The exhibition is open to the public on 25 and 26 November 2008, from 10.00-17.00. Admission: free.

12.00-15.00 Crafts workshops: hand-on weaving with Romanian artists Victoria Berbecaru and Maria Nistor woking on an authentic peasant loom. General audience. School groups are warmly encouraged to attend. Please reserve your seat at office@icr-london.co.uk.
19.00-21.00 Fauna and flora of Southern Transylvania, illustrated lecture by the botanist and conservationist Dr. John Akeroyd.
