Enescu Society Gala Concert @ ICR London Thursday, 3 December 2009, 7-9 pm;
The third year of the established Enescu Society continues with a gala concert given by award-winning Romanian-born soprano Leontina Vaduva, together with pianist Masakatsu Nakano. Programme: Leontina Vaduva has graduated from the Academy of Music in Bucharest, studying there with Ileana Cotrubas. She made her debut in 1986 on the stage of the Toulouse Opera. Since her premiere of Manon de Massenet at Capitole of Toulouse, she has often appeared at Covent Garden in Rigoletto, Carmen (as Micaela in 1991 and 1994) and Romeo et Juliette (1994). Among the honours Leontina Vaduva received are the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres, the Sir Laurence Olivier Award, the Royal Philharmonic Award and the Romanian State Award for Music and Culture.
For the Enescu Society concert she will be accompanied by pianist Masakatsu Nakano. The Enescu Society was established by the Romanian Cultural Institute in 2007 under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Margarita of Romania.
The Institute runs the Enescu Society Concerts Season from October to June, on the first Thursday of each month. The concert stage of the Institute hosts outstanding musicians performing George Enescu's music alongside an international repertoire. From September 2009 the Romanian Cultural Institute awards the Enescu Society sholarship to a student at the Royal Academy of Music. When: Thursday, 3 December 2009, 7-9 pm; |
