Exuberant Mădălina Rusu tackles a great repertoire for St Martin-in-the-Fields

After a row of prodigal talent, the Romanian presence in the Pianist of the World Series continues as young yet accomplished Mădălina Rusu will visit some of the great piano scores of all time. The recital is part of the Pianists of the Word Series.

Enescu - Pavane from Suite op. 10

Schumann - Fantasiestucke op.12

Scriabin - Sonata no. 4 in F#

Born in 1985 in Constanţa, Romania, Mădălina  Rusu has been studying since 2004 with Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she gained a First class BMus Honours degree, also graduating the MMus course (Guildhall Artist - Performance) with Distinction.  Mădălina  has been awarded the prestigious Guildhall Artist Fellowship for 2010/11.   She has performed at Barbican Hall, Cadogan Hall, LSO St Luke’s, St Martin’s in the Fields, St Margaret’s Church, Fairfield Halls, and elsewhere throughout the UK and Europe. Mădălina  Rusu is a recipient of scholarships from the Martin Musical Fund/Phillarmonia Orchestra, the Ratiu Family Foundation, Boise Foundation, as well as receiving the Ian Flemming MBF and the Brancuşi awards. She is a 1st Prize winner of the International Piano Competition PRO – PIANO, Bucharest, Croydon Concerto Competition, and winner of all internal Piano Competitions at the Guildhall. Mădălina  is also a top prize winner in the International Piano Competition ‘Konzerteum’, Athens, as well as Oxford Professional Recital Prize, Tunbridge Wells International Young Artists Competition, and the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition.
