ARES26 June - 1 July & 1 - 6 July 2007
ARES is an artist run performance art residency established and organized by Romanian artist Üto Gusztáv and hosted annually by the ETNA Foundation in the town of Sfantu Gheorghe, Transylvania, Romania. Üto Gusztáv in partnership with Belfast based artist Sinéad O'Donnell host ARES-2007 in Omagh and Belfast, as part of the collaborative ongoing project they have been involved in since 2004. Each year the project grows and involves more artists, aiming to develop performance art, action art and alternative art for artists based in Romania and Northern Ireland. Guest Artists:
Kinga Üto - emerging artist who explores the dialogue between design, traditional crafts, and performance art. Nemere Kerezsi - currently an assistant lecturer at the University of Arts in Budapest, Hungary. In 2005 he established the Portable Museum of Inter Spaces, a travelling museum that has been touring to over 15 rural and urban venues to date in Romania and Hungary. Levente Kozma - founder and director of the experimental video / sound Simultan Festival based in Timisoara, Romania. Co-curator of a variety of projects such as Night Shots Series, StudentFest and The Last Minute in Timisoara. Ileana Pintilie Teleaga - freelance curator and Associate Professor at the University of Fine Arts in Timisoara. Until 2004 she was the chief curator of the Contemporary Art Department at the Art Museum in Timisoara, Romania. Author of the comprehensive study Action art during the communist regime and curator of the Triennial Zona Performance Art Festival in Timisoara (1993-1999). Krisztina Szabó - up-and-coming artist who deals with gender and feminism. Founder of a weekly art house - film screening in Targu Secuiesc, Romania. Attila Toró - his work includes live performance, installation, video, photography, and digital new media. Founder of the 'képVIDÉK' Photo Art Group in Sfantu Gheorghe, Romania. Domokos Váncsa - emerging artist working with sound, video, installation and performance. Barnabás Vetró - up-and-coming young artist who explores the body as a vehicle of symbolic experience and knowledge.
